Mini Challenge

Over in the garden, Kerry's daughter Jaime offered gorgeous photos for this week's mini challenge.
Kerry asked us to play with this form Shadorma.   It is a simple syllabic verse form.  It is most effective when written using strong words or phrases.

The Shadorma is:

1. a hexastich, a poem in 6 lines
2. syllabic, 3-5-3-3-7-5 syllables per line.
3. unrhymed.

Bee in Bottlebrush

This flower reminded me of fireworks.  I went with this idea in my poem.

Hot sparks fly
as desire connects
Latin rhythm hums
steps invite
vertical tango begins
passion's fireworks~

 Growth

Green baby crawls
toward sun's juicy rays
birth of Hope
down to Earth
healing wisdom's potential
Mother Nature grins~

Thank you Jaime n' Kerry for this wonderful prompt~

Think Tank Thursday

I decided on Dream Catcher for our prompt #110 over at Poets United.  I thought it would capture many interesting poems~  I love the view, so far :D

Soon the tangerine rose will appear
                                          in the blue noted sky
                                                             a night of rituals
allows spirit guide to enter
gathering sacred fragments of the day
pinnacles of jewels threaded
with transforming thread
scattered thoughts come through the wind
 the sun bleached ones remain
storm clouds gather in corners of the mind
they must be swept out
 yet some cobwebs remain
like a lost Eagle feather they remind us
of our tangled memories
and outstretched limbs
a cloud comforts your head
a blue blanket of stars warms you
as your spirit soars and dances
through the day's dust
sunlight diffuses and shines
on the gems of your day
sweeping the valley of shadows outward
 to breath fresh air
as the shapes shift and the edges blur
summer's light dapples with rain
where the flutter of wings glide across your pond
and paints new images of light
It is a Lunar moth
you see her luminous glow
through the dark green spruce
the moon's night light winks at you
the moth is peacefully flirting around tiny new leaves
of the Black Walnut Tree
Green ribbons of her light
cascade in the breeze
you feel the wind and the edges of your day n' night blur
Your pathway is cleared
as your spirit guide departs
he/she whispers
connect the truth
to your stars

Vice Versa #11

Mary at  Poets United challenged us to write a poem,  with the words unique/ordinary and
condemn/praise.   She picked some great words for this challenge....

Uniqueby ~Marsilea

Umbrella shadows my saturated blue day yet

I see shadows engraved like diamonds through the radiant sun

My daily walk, my chores, my ordinary view of whiteness and concrete

 blurs the lines

but at night I hear the stars whispers as they fall

Their final dance a wish to dream on

Stacks of books to read, words to write, tests to study for

I feel condemned by a bland manilla world

my unquenchable curiosity is awaken by a poem

the words twist and turn like branches

hope is tucked in them, like green buds

their green veins extend and reach my heart and I feel

the words come, they arrive like a fresh rain

I so hope someone else sees my world

and gives me praise

for seeing beyond the ordinary

Poets and Toads unite in the Garden...

Over at Poets United the Think Tank Thursday prompt was Books...pick one and pen a poem. I hoped this would get us all talking about what we are reading and inspire our wish lists to grow ;D

I'm reading this book, The Lost Wife by Alyson Richman.

"In pre-war Prague, the dreams of two young lovers are shattered when they are separated by the Nazi invasion. Then, decades later, thousands of miles away in New York, there's an inescapable glance of recognition between two strangers. Providence is giving Lenka and Josef one more chance."

Laurie at RT inspired us to write a poem with the word miscreant.

 mis·cre·ant (mskr-nt)
n.

1. An evildoer; a villain.
2. An infidel; a heretic

I decided to combine the two prompts and see where it would take me.

dots of melancholy convey the sadness
pupils retract
puzzles of disconnect
puddle the pigments I have painted
our hands like stars in destiny's sky
You took my breathe away
you were like a long branch of light
and I your shadow
we were enraptured from our beginning
the delicate threads of us
soon unraveled
you lost on a sea of medical
expectations
Me, adrift in my world of  family
palpable sadness like ghosts filled our world
fragile like glass beads
shattered dreams n' hopes brought on
 by a miscreant
like weathered copper
he stole everyone's shine and filled
the world with hate.
lost souls
 separated by oceans
our feelings swim, but the current
sweeps us away
Fated elegance and time
gives us a second chance~
