Visual Feast

Mirrored thoughts tarnished
morphed muse twirls light
voyeur caught stealing gold
haunted dancer exposed
her orb grows cold.

Hickory nuts fall from black n' white
world portal blurs sun's muse
skeletal hands clock time out
Soleil spray paints her art
tickled pink her show on Saturday, at noon.

Sun kissed spoils
linger baking in pink oven
Where did dinner guest go? perhaps...
gathering mushrooms for stew...
Time tempers meal

Midnight snack for us
spicy meat day baked
 scurry to finish
crowd demands encore
off to replay Sweet Sacrifice.

Half n' Half

Half Night, Half Day

stealing night I clamor
echoed song in fog's smoke keeps me awake
seer paints my future

stylish blue-threaded with pale moonlight
I glide into indigo's brow
wisdom screeches-tell everyone

silence kills enthusiasm
as I glide into yellow Van Gogh
with my lucky rabbit's foot

Blue went Shopping

Over in the Garden, Peggy asked us to write a poem about an animal.  Here is our prompt:

Point of view and place are both important elements of poetry and story telling. This time take the point of view of an animal -- lets stretch a bit and make it NOT a dog or a cat.  You can even choose an imaginary or mythical animal.

Take this animal to a place you are not in every day. It can be a real place or an imaginary place at any time past, present or future.   Tell us about this place through the eyes, ears, nose, skin  (or whatever)  of your animal.

The lady at the farmer's market has peacocks.  This is her pet Blue and he loves dog food.

Blue's Clues

I don't want to shop
nothing will fit me
Love red-my favorite color
I like prints
polka dots, stripes
I want a cart
ooooh, I like scarves
I want to be a Chic Geek
Mean girls lurk aisle 10
I have a nice caboose, but
so what
beauty doesn't rule
Chic Geeks know this
So
    Mean
            Ass clowns
   Rank
             Twig status
Lolipop heads staring
Whatcha lookin' at
Oh, what is Juicy Couture
and do I want it?!
Who is Victoria and what is
her secret?!
beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I have a lot of eyes
YOLO
my mains tell me
Let's get
dog food
I love Kibbles n' Bits

Trade Offs

Sunday night I was excited on Monday I had plans-I knew hubby was going hunting and I would have a chance to be alone with my thoughts.  I would write, create, stitch, gather inspiration and make a day of it.   My daughter reminded me when she came home-"Mom guess what I don't have school tomorrow-teacher's workshop."  I was happy for her, but sad for me.  I thought I would have a different day-just the hound n' me.  Him stretching n' basking in the sun. Me, happy with webs of glue, spray paint and writing poems. Him taking a nap. Me, happy with my thoughts, quiet and having popcorn for lunch. I grew up in a movie theater, so popcorn is my comfort food!  Now a new plan-recalculate keeps coming to mind.  Daughter wants to go have coffee and shop.
Yes, she is a teenager!

It's GOlden

Mom pleeease
Ok-I'll GO
 heart knows
 GOlden
funky finds
in
chic geek
burGundy tOp
Rolling in the Deep
cranking radio
wailing royal dreams
Grab cOffee
n' linGer with shared biscOtti
 recalculate GPS=
Gifts, PassiOn, Spirit
styling corners
in the hall of shame
Her big smile
one dimple
pierces my heart
yes, it was GOlden
 no regrets
blue paint, finger webs of glue
stitched dreams
my Guess tOmorrow...

dVerse in the Pumpkin Patch

Brian at dVerse conjured up a challenge that is near n' dear.

"I want you to think about something you are passionate about—world peace, gun control, child hunger, slavery, politics, homelessness….you get the picture. Now write about them through the lens of a pumpkin."

My poem is near to my heart.  I also thought it fun to add in a favorite childhood memory.

Dear Hubby,

Our anniversary is coming up
I'll be home in time
must finish Charles' legacy
The golden glimmer of the melting sun will
cascade over our favorite spot on Earth
we can celebrate
my sweet Dreamsicle
It will be a harvest moon again
just like that night long ago
You warmed my heart  in college
my sweet Babboo
Remember...

you proposed at Disney
I had one too many at the Aladdin Festival
Lucy said you cantaloupe
we waited for next Halloween to wed

Now your work with Rachel Ray
part of Yum-o!
brilliant flame of mine
I love it when you call me Buttercup
our kids Big Max, Jack
Estrella n' Mandy are coming
we can see our new baby bear

Remember trick or treating for Unicef
in our tweens
you were so proud of me
Good grief my Sweet Dumpling
time flew like Sweet Lightening
A carnival in our honor
we will dance the Cha cha
as the Orange Magic rises
its our fairy tale

All my love,
Sally

IWSG

Damn, I forgot today is Wednesday.    It is the first of the month and time for a post about the Insecure Writer's Support Group.  Our founder, Alex Cavanaugh encourages us to share a post about our fears or encourage others  and be supportive. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up.

 I call Alex-Captain Cool.

I am pleased to announce that the Insecure Writer’s Support Group website is now open!!!

Alex:   It is still a work in progress and we will continue to add to it over time. You will find pages full of links to great sites and databases under the following subjects – Writing Tips; Publishers, Agents, Queries; Self-Publishing; Marketing; Contests; and Publications.

We also have a page where you can leave suggestions for sites to add to the database. Note we are looking for sites, not individual posts!

The IWSG List is also up on the site HERE.    We also have a Facebook page HERE.

The first Wednesday will be an encouraging word from the team, and every Monday will be a post from one of the admins about writing, designed to encourage and give you some valuable information or resources.

Eventually, we’d like to open it up for guest posts on Wednesday, and expand to include Twitter and possibly a newsletter. (The Twitter hashtag is still #IWSG.)

We invite you to follow and explore the new site. And let us know what we can do to make it a great resource for writers. Thanks everyone for your dedication to the IWSG and making this site a reality!

See he is Captain Cool-I told you!

I am struggling these days.  I thought I could do it all, art, poetry, photography and writing, but with my alone time is in short supply.  I am struggling...I am trying to figure out what I really want.  I had this really wild dream the other night...I was sewing a dress with words.  I was tearing pages out of books and stitching them into fabric. Yes, poems, dictionary terms and passages- I love.   I woke up feeling like I had been on an episode of Project Runway...but I felt like my dream was encouraging me to continue writing.   So, I am going to gather my poems and continue.  I want to write several books. We must follow our passion, it guides us out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary.  It is our GPS after all-Gifts, Passion, Spirit and we do have to recalculate sometimes, but as we do we make new discoveries, new friends, find new paths to trend or genres! ;D

Maybe I will make that word dress!
