Lune

April 25, is a full moon.  Over in the Garden, Grace asked us to tackle a poetic form called Lune.    Grace tells us Lunes are small poems with the syllable count 5-3-5.  Each Lune has thirteen syllables-one for each month of the moon's year.

Robert Kelly Lune:

Robert Kelly, an American poet, invented the Lune poetry form.  He felt that adhering to the strict form of Japanese haiku (5-7-5 syllables) in English creates a different poem than the Japanese intention. He invented the Lune to remove these differences, and the only requirement is the 5-3-5 syllables. There are no other rules i.e. no need for a cutting word or punctuation.    Rhymes are fine; subject matter is wide open.

Lunar's hope

golden feathers shine
Moonstruck night ballet
silkworm glows
liquid light Swan dance

Two for One

I am behind on my poetry challenges.

I decided to give Lolamouse's challenge a chance.  She asked us to write a Billy Collins type poem. He is good at flattery and making one walk the dangerous, teasing path.  More about Billy's style here.

Collins believes that poetry should be a part of everyday life. He introduced a school program called Poetry 180, an online poetry anthology for teachers to use with their students. It was named for the 180 days of the school year and for the 180 degree turn which Collins wants students to make toward poetry- listening rather than dissecting.(this shared by Miss Mouse)

I decide to also do Margaret's challenge.  Her daughter Chelsea provided us with art. I was inspired by another painting, till this poem jumped out at me.   I wonder what Chelsea thinks of our poetic view?!

Margaret asked us to write how the art inspired us!  "I'm going to ask you to try and create a poem that is based on feelings rather than what image you may see - try not to see a person or animal, or a scene.  Try to write about how the art makes you feel."

I didn't do this right...so  I will attempt the art that attracted me first and try Corey's dialogue prompt-soon!

Fragile morning arrives

Gold finch paints
over tarnished mask

Peach blush covers your Earl Grey rain

Tightly stitched rose bud lips hide your evil doll grin

your mirror, mirror approves

of your siren-esque chiseled perfection

co$t of beauty charged

on plastic-for the Queen

Over in the Garden

Flights of fancy
kiss tender blooms
landing on carpet of chamomile
Lemon verbena opens spring's door
as fleurs of peppermint
scent  harmonious wind
swept away
in serenity's weightless
up draft
steeped memories
coax spritely
dance
every day at 3pm

I'm not sure if I can keep up with
NaPoWriMo , but I can try...
I'm doing the A-Z Blogging challenge. Blog the alphabet in the month of April-six days a week, with Sundays off.

Hannah's challenge was to write a poem about

Tall Blonde
gracefully glides
long legs forward
she bends and swoops
sun salutations
up dog
down dog
tree pose her favorite
even toed temperament
her Alice curiosity
beguiles and enchants
she spots a beautiful pant suit
you can't miss her
model stance

This is my  poem for
April, Come she will...( I love that song by Simon n' Garfunkel)

 April you fool
enchant with pink confetti
 a symphony of bees
then you smirk
n' shock me an Alaska kiss
your sweetness like peppermint
You tease
mean Calendar girl
always flirting
 batting your
lashes of wonder
you please me when
watercolored rain
arrives
your colorful smile
comes into view
and my lemon boots dance~
