Toad Abode

Mama Zen challenged us to write a poem, about a home for a Toad.  I love this idea  ;D
Fairy houses, were my first thought.   When my daughter was six, we moved from Maine to Virginia, and later North Carolina.  She didn't want to leave her family-grandparents, aunts n' uncles, cousins or her fairy homes.  We had lived close to the shore and had made many tiny homes.  I told her, your cousins will check on them.  Now you can make new fairy homes, where you live and send them photos.   The first home we made attracted a toad, at first she wasn't thrilled.   I reminded her that Mr. Toad needed a home, too.   Maybe he had to move, like we did, maybe he needs a spot to rest.

"Oh, yes, he needs his own special place, too."    We put out fresh water daily and picked moss and acorns, to add charm to his cottage-I mean Toad Abode!

Mama Zen said we were limited to 48 words.

Breeze of Honey scented blossoms required
a window to gape at
night flickers

Old Man Lichen lives nearby
his mood cascades onto
stick gate
speckled rocks like bird's eggs
on path

rain washed treats visit
 for a midnight snack
 moist moss
needed
when southern spa
sizzles

  5. Wonderful! I put several toad houses out in my flower gardens, but they seem to think they can find better accommodations on their own.
