Animal Medicine

It is Friday and a  Fireblossom Friday Challenge.  Shay mentions animal medicine and our challenge.  Select an animal and become them, yet stay in human form...all within the magic number of seven lines-Hooooow am I going to do this... ;D

Fireblossom tells us:

Native Americans believed that each creature possessed its own "medicine", and that this power, or mojo, could be transferred. I want to take that idea a big step further. Suppose you woke up one morning, and your body was just the same as always, but that the spirit of an animal, or bird, or some other creature, had taken you over from within.

"One more thing. Minimum of seven lines, which means no haiku. Please link a NEW poem written for this challenge. Thanks, and enjoy! I'll be around to read everyone's entry. Now stretch those imaginations!"

                        wHoooooo

clock chimes 12-at my cherry wood desk
can't type fingers feel odd-
I always wanted to live in a tree house
eyes wide open, silently I glide towards kitchen-need a little snack.
Moonlight bathes the kitchen counter
funny my wardrobe lately is the color of tree bark-strange
My head feels odd like a spinning top
How can I hear the TV on up in the FROG
My nails grew fast
white tufted hair sticking straight up near my crown
must go outside the moon is singing
can you hear her tune?
hmmm, my intuition says
must visit Lolamouse

Thanks Fireblossom-great challenge!

  1. oOoo! I adore owls! This is so cool, what you've done here, though I feel that I must now run over to Lolamouse's place and protect her! ;-)

One thing it's easy to miss...I said MINIMUM seven lines, so it doesn't have to be *exactly* seven lines. I only mention it in case you wanted to play around further with being an owl!

  2. Gosh that photo is amazing! Breath-taking. I love your playful take on life as an owl - the desire to live in a tree house, the bark coloured wardrobe (I could totally work that!) and wakefulness in moonlight.

  6. Owls are a great totem. Love how you were able to write completely from the owl's perspective. Guess that was the challenge. lol. I sort of wavered I think with that part. Well done! Agree that the bark colored wardrobe was genius.
