Finale Poem over in the Garden

Over in the Garden, it is the final day of National Poetry Writing Month.  Marian challenged us to write an A-Z poem.
Here are her instructions:

It’s a simple challenge, really. Starting with the letter A, every next word should start with the next letter of the alphabet. Like this:
April brings
challenges daily--
Everything feels
great here...
I did this challenge some time ago, with four trips through the alphabet. (If you’re interested to see it, click here.) No length requirement today, except for a minimum of 26 words, A-Z. Trip through the alphabet as many times as you like. It’s pretty fun once you get going, though I will tell you, X is a rough one.

I found this photo accidentally and decided to go with it.

Amorous beautiful couple

desires energy

flower-like glowing hot idealistic

journey

Kama Sutra life

moaning neon orange

phosphorescent Quiet Riot

souls tell union

vivid with Xanadu

yearn

Zen

Save the Frogs

Over in the Garden,  Hannah challenged us to write a poem for Save The Frogs Day

Save The Frogs Day is the world's largest day of amphibian education and conservation action.

In an effort to raise awareness of the plight of amphibians, the scientific community has declared Saturday April 27th, 2013 the 5th Annual 'Save The Frogs Day'. On this day we encourage the appreciation and celebration of amphibians by people from all walks of life. Only a small proportion of our public is aware that frogs are disappearing, and amphibian conservation efforts will not be successful with an un-informed public. Our goal is to make the amphibian extinction crisis common knowledge, and Save The Frogs Day is our best way to make this happen!

 Please Be Green

Geesh, you think life is tough
my home reeks
Putrid fish in a slimy swamp
I'm always cold
I have thyroid disease
You couldn't tell by my
bulging eyes n'  bulbous belly
I'm told all day to hang out and bug off
while fish with teeth n'  diving birds
 try to eat me
I know hop to it...find a new home right
someone is polluting all the new condos
so I'll settle for this pad
I'm an artist
you didn't know
but you have heard about Save The Arts?
I blend, change color daily
Monet was one of us
You remember our President
Well, if you could please help...
Everyone knows
but I know you will leap towards
the challenge!
~Thank you~

Animal Medicine

It is Friday and a  Fireblossom Friday Challenge.  Shay mentions animal medicine and our challenge.  Select an animal and become them, yet stay in human form...all within the magic number of seven lines-Hooooow am I going to do this... ;D

Fireblossom tells us:

Native Americans believed that each creature possessed its own "medicine", and that this power, or mojo, could be transferred. I want to take that idea a big step further. Suppose you woke up one morning, and your body was just the same as always, but that the spirit of an animal, or bird, or some other creature, had taken you over from within.

"One more thing. Minimum of seven lines, which means no haiku. Please link a NEW poem written for this challenge. Thanks, and enjoy! I'll be around to read everyone's entry. Now stretch those imaginations!"

                        wHoooooo

clock chimes 12-at my cherry wood desk
can't type fingers feel odd-
I always wanted to live in a tree house
eyes wide open, silently I glide towards kitchen-need a little snack.
Moonlight bathes the kitchen counter
funny my wardrobe lately is the color of tree bark-strange
My head feels odd like a spinning top
How can I hear the TV on up in the FROG
My nails grew fast
white tufted hair sticking straight up near my crown
must go outside the moon is singing
can you hear her tune?
hmmm, my intuition says
must visit Lolamouse

Thanks Fireblossom-great challenge!

Cliff Notes

I always giggle when I hear the term Cliff Notes.  My brother's name is Clifford and yes believe it or not, he and Clifford the Big Red Dog share a birthday.   No, he wasn't named after the Big Red Dog...it just happened, lol.

Over in the Garden, Izy prompted us to write a Cliff Note type poem.  Okay, she didn't say it quite like that, more like this:

"I call upon you to write out of the standard and find new places in the everyday, and today we are going to retool your favorite story.

And let me be clear here:  by favorite story, I mean that book you return to time and again.  Or that TV show you watch back to back episodes of on a rainy Sunday, or that song, that video game, that painting.  Stories are embedded everywhere, and we all have one we hold above the others."

The Challenge:

Take your favorite story and condense it into a poem no longer than ten lines, a "Cliffs Notes" version.

Lately, I have been reading a lot of YA books.
I would like to write one~

Page after Page nestled in downtown's corner
hidden red Moleskine
Dash it all--- guilded Lily
senseless dose of nauseam
love the colors, the music, gifts wrapped in Christmas joy
I spy clues organized synchronicity
Do you dare if not place me back
Do I tickle your ivories
Your key:  page/line/word
23/1/8
24/5/9,11,12, 13, 14, 15

The book is like a relationship scavenger hunt.  I am tempted to hide my own red Moleskine and see how many poets I might connect with~ Yes all the discoveries are made during Christmas.  Dash is not a fan and Lily loves the season~
I have many favorites, but lately this book is still on my mind and I will read it again ;D

Here is the book, in case you are curious!

“I’ve left some clues for you.
If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”

Over in the Garden

Happy Earth Day Toads, butterflies and Hummingbirds!  Yes, you too Mr. and Ms. Robin!
(I decided to finish my poem using Kerry's prompt).

Kerry shared with us an  amazing storybook illustrator,  Virginia Francis Sterrett. She was an American artist and illustrator.  She died at the tender age of 30, from Tuberculosis.
Her art is amazing-she painted dreams.

Old French Tales (Penn Publishing Company) is one of her best-known illustrative works.  You can view some of her work:  HERE.

 Virginia Francis Sterrett
"Europa and the Bull"

For this prompt, choose an illustration and write a story poem based on it.

I am using this one "Europa and the Bull"  I didn't read the story, but have one of my own.

Washed Wings

Is this the only way to field of wishes?

Yes, the field grows where the sun casts pink shadowed wings

I crave grass, buttery blooms and the opening of  day's ease.

Are you blinded by your dream?

Hold tight and cast your net of doubt, let the purple calm cascade
blackbirds follow us for a reason

Look for the sea's heart-sailors know its strength
Lapis blue surrounded by evergreen
True North is where you find you....
Look among the blue...
