Save the Frogs

Over in the Garden,  Hannah challenged us to write a poem for Save The Frogs Day

Save The Frogs Day is the world's largest day of amphibian education and conservation action.

In an effort to raise awareness of the plight of amphibians, the scientific community has declared Saturday April 27th, 2013 the 5th Annual 'Save The Frogs Day'. On this day we encourage the appreciation and celebration of amphibians by people from all walks of life. Only a small proportion of our public is aware that frogs are disappearing, and amphibian conservation efforts will not be successful with an un-informed public. Our goal is to make the amphibian extinction crisis common knowledge, and Save The Frogs Day is our best way to make this happen!

 Please Be Green

Geesh, you think life is tough
my home reeks
Putrid fish in a slimy swamp
I'm always cold
I have thyroid disease
You couldn't tell by my
bulging eyes n'  bulbous belly
I'm told all day to hang out and bug off
while fish with teeth n'  diving birds
 try to eat me
I know hop to it...find a new home right
someone is polluting all the new condos
so I'll settle for this pad
I'm an artist
you didn't know
but you have heard about Save The Arts?
I blend, change color daily
Monet was one of us
You remember our President
Well, if you could please help...
Everyone knows
but I know you will leap towards
the challenge!
~Thank you~

  1. Well expressed, Ella. Changing one's color daily and blending is a way many creatures of nature survive. There are lots of challenges to be overcome, and one has to overcome them to survive and thrive. Love the photo you used!!
